TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Culture Fest will celebrate fermenting on Saturday, Jan. 12, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Grand Traverse Circuit, 225 W. 14th Street.
Local experts will demonstrate the art of lacto-fermentation and offer information on the health value of the foods that have sustained generations of people around the world.
The afternoon also features vendors of cultured products and culturing supplies, a variety of alternative health practitioners, door prizes and many hands-on children's activities.
Local author/illustrator/cartoonist, Dick Evans will make an appearance to share his children's book, "Discover the Magic of Rainbows," which gives children perspective on the importance of eating wisely and well.
Traverse City Culture Fest is produced in association with "Cultured, Yet Unrefined," a project started by Judi Mills, certified GAPS practitioner, and Randy Schwartz, certified holistic health coach.
The two provided monthly culturing classes at the Grand Traverse Circuit this year.
Cost for the Culture Fest is $3 per person or $5 for a family.
