B.A.R.K.s program

TRAVERSE CITY — B.A.R.K.s, Books and Reading for Kids, will offer young readers from kindergarten through third grade the chance to read to a trained therapy dog on Friday, July 12.

Each reader will be given a 15-minute time slot to read to Lacey, an 8-year-old Golden Retriever, between 10 and 11 a.m. at Horizon Books, 243 E. Front St. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 946-7290.

'Hit the Wall' exhibit

BEULAH — L'Chayim Delicatessen's second wine and cheese party for its next "Hit the Wall" exhibit will be held today, July 11.

From 5 to 7 p.m., visitors can meet local artist Parker Nugent, whose bold black and white posters and copper-etched prints are on display at the deli's Beulah location. For details, call 871-0601.

Concert for kids

TRAVERSE CITY — Local entertainer Miriam Pico will give a free concert for children Saturday, July 13, at the East Bay Branch Library, 1989 Three Mile Road.

Festival and dinner

LAKE LEELANAU — St. Mary of Lake Leelanau's Summer Festival & Chicken Dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, in the village. The meal is $13 for adults and $8 for children ages 4 to 10.

Duct tape craft

TRAVERSE CITY — Teens and preteens are invited to craft a duct tape wallet with maps of underground transit systems from around the world.

The program starts at 6 p.m. Monday, July 15, at the Peninsula Community Library, 2699 Island View Road. It includes the craft project, pizza and a sundae bar and is part of the Teen Summer Reading Club. For details, call 223-7700 or visit
