Wimpy Kid Mobile

TRAVERSE CITY — The Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book 8 Mobile will be at Horizon Books, 243 E. Front St., on Saturday, July 6.

Fans of the Wimpy Kid books can stop at the store from 4 to 7 p.m. for free goodies, to see Wimpy Kid book trailers, take photos with the vehicle, pre-order Book 8 and buy favorite backlist books. Jeff Kinney will not appear with the Book 8 Mobile. For details, visit www.horizonbooks.com.

Band concerts

BENZIE COUNTY — The Benzie Community Band summer concert series will focus on the theme “Brother Against Brother,” a commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the War Between the States.

The series kicks off at 7 p.m. today, July 5, at Mineral Springs Park in Frankfort. Future concerts will be held Wednesday, July 10, at 7 p.m. at the Benzie Historical Museum, Benzonia; Wednesday, July 17, at 7 p.m. at the Interlochen Public Library, Interlochen; and Wednesday, July 24, at 7:30 p.m. at Empire Beach in Empire.

Senior lunch

INTERLOCHEN — Reservations are needed today, July 5, for the next senior luncheon at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rogers Road and U.S. 31.

Lunch will be served at noon Monday, July 8, and will be followed by fellowship and games. The cost is $3 for the meal, however seniors also are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch. For details or reservations, call Ralph Hintsala, 620-0840.

Art opening

GLEN ARBOR — An exhibit by Duncan Spratt Moran will open with a reception today, July 5, at The Glen Arbor Art Association, 6031 S. Lake St.

Spratt Moran has taught for many years at The Pathfinder School. He has a master of fine arts degree in creative writing from Warren Wilson College and has studied art history as well as color theory and composition.

The opening reception will be hosted from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibit also may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 6, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7. Call 334-6112 to learn more.
