Traverse Symphony back at Lars Hockstad

Orchestra performs Sunday

From Staff Reports

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse Symphony Orchestra presents Scheherezade at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 in Lars Hockstad Auditorium in Traverse City. On the program are Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherezade and Walter Piston's Symphony No. 4.

Based on The Arabian Nights, the colorful Scheherezade tells the fictional story of the Sultana, Scheherezade, who saves her own life by entertaining her lord with fascinating tales that continue for one thousand and one nights.

Scheherezade will be the Symphony's first performance in Lars Hockstad Auditorium since the venue underwent extensive renovations, including all new seats, in 2011 thanks to the Traverse City Film Festival, as well as its first performance at Lars Hockstad in five years.

Only a limited number of tickets remain and are available at or 947-7120. Season sponsor is Northwestern Bank. Concert sponsor is Orchard Creek Healthcare. The media sponsor is WCCW FM.
