Update on 06/02/2014 Historical Photo

Historical photo information, provided by readers, for the June 2 image: Robert Winnie stopped by the Record-Eagle office to share information about the photo that included himself and his wife, Irene (Votruba) who died five years ago. He said the photo was taken in 1981 at a candy stand in the Traverse City Post Office. The stand was run by a blind woman with whom his wife was acquainted. He said he received several phone calls about the photo and was happy to share the story behind it. Larry Stoltz and John Berst called to identify Mr. and Mrs. Winnie, noting that they were wonderful people. Phyllis Gertz identified the gentleman at the counter as Ron Hoffmeister.
