Paddle craft safety
TRAVERSE CITY — Registration closes today, for the Traverse City Coast Guard Auxiliary’s paddle craft safety class on June 10.
The class will meet from 6-9 p.m. at the Coast Guard Air Station. It will cover canoe and kayak safety, emergency procedures and regulations. The class fee is $10 to cover the cost of the textbook. For details or registration, call Dianne Walker, 941-8076.
Church hosts picnic
TRAVERSE CITY — Old Mission Congregational Church, 18687 Mission Road, will host a series of outdoor picnics.
The first picnic starts at 5:30 p.m. June 11, at the church on the corner of Mission and Swaney roads. Grilled hot dogs, bratwurst and hamburgers will be served, along with salads, casseroles and desserts prepared by church members. A freewill offering will be accepted. Additional picnics are planned for Wednesdays, July 9, Aug. 13 and Sept. 10 also at 5:30 p.m. For details, call 223-4844.
Stroke survivor shares story
TRAVERSE CITY — Stroke survivor Lana Beaudoin will share how she used her love for music to help her overcome the challenges of a stroke at the June 11, meeting of the Grand Traverse Bay Area Stroke Club.
“Stroke Recovery Through Music: Demonstration of a One Handed Piano Playing Technique” will be presented at the meeting from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster. The public is invited. For details, contact facilitator Melinda Hollands, 935-6380.
BENZONIA — Various churches and pastors will reach out to the community through the Blazing Fires of Revival event.
The revival will be hosted at Hilltop Tabernacle, 7383 Hoadley Road. On June 13, the main event will be held from 6:30-9:30 p.m. On Saturday, kids’ fun will be from 2:30-5:30 p.m., followed by the main event from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
