Greenhouse offers workshops

TRAVERSE CITY — Breeze Hill Greenhouse is taking reservations for upcoming workshops.

“Creating Fountains from Pots” will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10. The demonstration includes easy ways to incorporate a water feature into the garden. There is no charge, but donations for the Father Fred Foundation food pantry are requested.

“Easy Peasy Herb Pots” will start at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12. Participants will plant a pot of herbs created for their taste buds. The $15 cost includes pots, plants and soil.

“What’s the Buzz” starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14. Suzette Cooley Sanborn of Island Amber Apiary will discuss bees and honey. There is no charge, but donations for the Father Fred Foundation food pantry are requested.

Bobbin lace demo

TRAVERSE CITY — Bobbin lace expert Amanda Winnicki and friends will demonstrate the art of bobbin lace Friday, June 13, at the East Bay Branch Library, 1989 Three Mile Road.

The demonstration will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The bobbin lace-making technique dates to 16th century Italy and has a long and rich tradition in England, Normandy and France as well. The demonstration is free and open to the public.

Book store welcomes poets

NORTHPORT — Dog Ears Books will celebrate its 21st birthday on Friday, June 13, with a group of 11 poets representing the book “Poetry in Michigan, Michigan in Poetry.”

In addition to the work of Michigan poets, the book from New Issues in Kalamazoo includes color reproductions of the work of many Michigan artists.
