Pre-diabetes seminar

TRAVERSE CITY — Certified diabetes educator Mary Coates, CDE, will share information on preventing pre-diabetes in a seminar on Monday, June 9.

The program will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. in meeting rooms A and B at Munson Community Health Center, 550 Munson Ave. Participants will learn ways to improve food choices, increase physical activity and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Green Connections

ACME — The public is invited to network with members of the Michigan Green Consortium on Wednesday, June 11.

Green Connections will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Council Banquet Room at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa. In addition to drinks and conversation, the Green Committee of the Grand Traverse Resort will give a brief presentation/tour. For details, call 534-6000.

MEA-Retired meets

TRAVERSE CITY — Reservations are due by noon Thursday, June 12, for the Grand Traverse Bay Area MEA-Retired chapter’s final luncheon of 2013-14.

The chapter will meet Tuesday, June 17, at the First Congregational Church, 6105 Center Road. Registration and socializing starts at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at 11:40 a.m. Pat Gallagher and the troupe from Miracle Productions will perform excerpts from their summer production of the musical “Catch Me If You Can” at 12:20 p.m. Scholarships also will be awarded to three area graduating seniors.

Kennel Club show

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Kennel Club presents its 76th, 77th and 78th “Cherry Classic” all-breed AKC Conformation, Obedience and Rally Dog Show.

Show hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday through Sunday, June 13-15, at the Northwest Michigan Fairgrounds on Blair Town Hall Road. Mixed breeds are welcome in obedience and rally through AKC Canine Partners. A class for “Best Veteran” is on Friday, “Best Puppy” on Saturday and “Best Bred by Exhibitor” on Sunday. In addition, an eye clinic exam will be offered Saturday and Canine Good Citizen testing will take place Sunday. There is a fee for each of these. Best in Show is about 4 p.m.
