Symptom simulator

TRAVERSE CITY — Northern Lakes Community Mental Health will have the Mindstorm Symptom Simulator available for the public to try today, May 12.

Created with the help of people dealing with schizophrenia and a panel of psychiatrists, the machine simulates the symptoms that people dealing with schizophrenia experience. The six-minute, 3-D experience produces visual hallucinations and distortions, voices, wind effects and smells.

Individuals who wish to participate should call 922-4850 to reserve a time slot between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Northern Lakes Community Mental Health, 105 Hall St.

Jazz Club

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Central High School Choirs will host the 17th annual “Rendezvous at the Jazz Club.”

Performances are at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, May 14-16, in the school auditorium, 1150 Milliken Dr.The performance of popular music will feature the Rendezvous Big Band and Strings, Choral-Aires, Vocal Majority, Men of Note and soloists. Performances on Wednesday and Thursday will feature identical programs, while Friday is reserved for senior solos.There also will be a dessert intermission each evening.

The luncheon meeting starts at noon at the Blue Pelican Inn. Lake will discuss the impact of the theater and the film festival on the area and future plans. The $12 cost is payable at the door.
