Fibromyalgia help

TRAVERSE CITY — The fibromyalgia support group will meet from 1-3 p.m. today, May 10, in dining room no.2 of the Munson Medical Center cafeteria, 1105 Sixth St. Family and friends are welcome.

Early childhood event

TRAVERSE CITY — Great Start Traverse Bay and Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District will host a "Get Set for Summer" Family Fun Day today, May 10, from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the TBAISD conference center, 1101 Red Dr.

There will be summer-inspired activities including book readings of the Mi Reads book "Woolbur," written by Leslie Helakoski, a petting zoo, Moomer's ice cream, yarn spinning and more. There also will be an on-site book exchange.

Humanists meet

TRAVERSE CITY — Retired Michigan Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Weaver will be the guest speaker at the Monday, May 12, meeting of the Grand Traverse Humanists.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the History Center of Traverse City, 322 Sixth St. Weaver will discuss her experiences and her seven-point plan for judicial and governmental reform. The program is free and open to the public. For details, call 392-1215.

Volunteer training

TRAVERSE CITY — Peace Ranch will hold its annual training on six consecutive Saturdays for individuals interested in becoming volunteers at the ranch.

Training will be held from 9:30 a.m.-noon Saturdays, May 17-June 21, at the ranch, 2570 Hoosier Valley Road. For details or to register for training, email volunteer4peacetc@gmail.com.

MEA-Retired meet

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Bay Area-MEA-Retired chapter will meet Tuesday, May 20. Reservations are needed by noon Wednesday, May 14.

The event opens with registration and socializing at 11 a.m. at the Hagerty Center, 715 E. Front St. Lunch will follow at 11:30 a.m. At 12:20 p.m., guest speaker Maggie Quinn will give a program titled 'Are You Actively or Inactively Aging."
