Live music

TRAVERSE CITY — Hawthorne Vineyards Winery & Tasting Room is open for the season and will host live music on Saturdays in May.

Live music will be performed from 2-4 p.m. with Olivia Mainville on Saturday; Miriam Pico, May 17; TBA May 24; and Blake Elliott May 31.

Father Fred spring garage sale

TRAVERSE CITY — The Father Fred Foundation spring garage sale will be held Saturday.

Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the foundation, 826 Hastings St. It features thousands of items at bargain prices. All proceeds are used to purchase food pantry items or to provide financial help for local families in need.

Art exhibit reception

FRANKFORT — An exhibit of drawings and paintings by Shirley Trump is on display at West Michigan Bank & Trust, 501 Main St. A reception will be hosted from 4-6 p.m. today.

The exhibit, titled “The Lost Portfolio of Shirley Trump,” features some of the 47 works in a black leather portfolio that Jeryl Colby of Colby’s Orchard House gave Trump’s daughter, Susan Maunders Olson, last spring when she returned to Frankfort. Colby saved the portfolio for eight years and waited until she could give it to Olson in person.

The exhibit may be viewed during regular bank hours through Aug. 6. For details, call 352-9655.

Michael’s Placemovie benefit

TRAVERSE CITY — “A Night at the Movies” today will benefit Michael’s Place, a healing center for those who are grieving.
