Senior Services program

SUTTONS BAY — Leelanau County Senior Services and ShareCare will sponsor a panel discussion titled ‘What You Need to Know to Get In and Out of the Hospital.”

The event starts at 10 a.m. May 8 at the Leelanau County Government Center, 8527 E. Government Center Dr. The panel will talk about the admission and discharge processes for Munson Medical Center, Medicare regulations, what a rehab facility can provide for long- and short-term care, and what skilled care services are available in the home.

Wellness programs

TRAVERSE CITY — Performance Chiropractic will offer a variety of wellness presentations during May.

Dr. Don Piche will present “Creating Health” May 7 and May 28. He will discuss factors that promote health and reverse disease processes.

Dr. Julie Brons will offer insight on the issue of the expanding American waistline in “Beer Guts & Muffin Tops” on May 12. She will look at the underlying factors and why watching your waistline is important. Dr. Brons also will present “Feeding Your Body” on May 22. She will explore the world of nutrition and share practical action steps.

Nurses Week dinner

TRAVERSE CITY — The annual ANA-MI North/NMC Dinner will be hosted May 8 to celebrate National Nurses Week.

The event will be held from 5-8 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 6105 Center Road, and honors Northwestern Michigan College graduates from 1964 and 2014. Guest speaker Kathleen McManus, RN, MHA and former Munson chief operating officer, will give a program titled “Nurses: Leading the Way.”
