Michigan Activity Pass renewed

NOVI — The Library Network recently announced it will renew the Michigan Activity Pass (MAP) for a second year beginning May 24.

The MAP program is a partnership between Michigan’s nearly 400 public libraries and more than 70 arts and cultural organizations.

It is designed to enhance the learning experience for people of all ages through books and other library materials, and provide reduced cost or complimentary access to arts and cultural organizations across the state.

The MAP will be available at all of Michigan’s public libraries. Some of the participating cultural partners include the Gilmore Car Museum, the Michigan Science Center and the Detroit Institute of Arts in Detroit, and the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum in Paradise. Partners closer to home include include the Dennos Museum Center, Traverse City; the Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center for the Arts, Frankfort; the Empire Area Museum, Empire; the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum, Northport; and the Icebreaker Mackinaw Maritime Museum, Mackinaw City.

Library users with a valid library card can print a pass, either from home or at the library, to one of the participating cultural institutions at

Some cultural partners offer complimentary or reduced price admission.

Others offer discounts in their gift shop or other exclusive offers for MAP pass holders only.

Each pass expires one week from the date it is printed.

Each library will have five passes available per week for each of the participating organizations.
