INTERLOCHEN — Interlochen Center for the Arts will host a college fair and informational scholarship presentation on Monday, July 15. More than 50 colleges and conservatories will attend the College Fair from 2 to 4 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium. The fair is free and open the public.

Following the fair, the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts will hold an informational scholarship presentation at 4:15 p.m. with details on how to participate in arts scholarship programs offered through the NFAA.

Cherry dishes

FRANKFORT — Cherries are featured in all the dishes being served at the ninth annual Very Cherry Smorgasbord on Thursday, July 18.

The event will be hosted from 5 to 7 p.m., or until the food is gone, by the United Methodist Women at Frankfort United Methodist Church, 537 Crystal Ave. Entrees include cherry barbecue meatballs, cherry chicken casserole, ham with cherry sauce, and beef burgundy. Desserts and salads also contain cherries.

The cost is $12 for adults, $6 for ages 4 to 12 and free for children 3 and younger, which does not include dessert and beverages. Tickets will only be available at the door.

Performances set

LELAND — Summer performances at the Old Art Building start with the Riverside Shakespeare Company.

The theater troupe will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18. The series continues with the Gillian Bell Trio on Aug. 8; folk duo E Minor & Steven Leaf on Aug. 15; the Accidentals and the Crane Wives on Aug. 30; and the Harry Goldson Quintet on Sept. 12.

All performances are at the Old Art Building, 111 Main. Attendees should bring their own seating and are welcome to come early to picnic on the lawn. For more information, visit

Fine editions

TRAVERSE CITY — The Friends of the Peninsula Community Library will hold their “Fine Editions Book Sale” Thursday through Saturday, July 18-20.

The sale opens for Friends members only from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a root beer float social.

The sale then will be open to the public until 9 p.m. The sale continues from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Books are $2 a bag the week following the sale.

Burian exhibit

GLEN ARBOR — An exhibit by Grand Rapids artist Margo Burian will open with a reception at 6 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Center Gallery, 6023 Lake St. Burian’s paintings of Leelanau County’s land and water may be viewed through Thursday, July 25. For details, call 334-3179.
