Symphony sounds

LAKE LEELANU — The Grand Rapids Symphony performs with guests Song of the Lakes at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Fountain Point Resort and Club, 990 S. Lake Leelanau Drive.

Filmstrip funTRAVERSE CITY — The East Bay Branch Library's eighth annual Filmstrip Festival continues today and Saturday at the library, 1989 Three Mile Road.Themes are ““Rosie’s Favorites” at 4 p.m. today, with librarian Rosie Flickinger’s favorite filmstrips, plus free popcorn and malted milk balls; and “Classic Folktales” at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, with filmstrips illustrated by Caldecott Award winner Paul Galdone.Admission is free. ‘Path to Page’

GLEN ARBOR — Poet, playwright and creative writing instructor Anne-Marie Oomen leads a day of hiking and writing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today in the Port Oneida Rural Historic District. Participants should meet at the Charles and Hattie Olsen Farm on M-22, north of Glen Arbor.

Lions yard sale

MAPLE CITY — Donations are being accepted today for Saturday's Cedar/Maple City Lions Club’s annual yard sale at the Lions Community Building on County Road 616.Donations may be dropped off from 6 to 8 p.m. today; the sale is held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
