LAKE ANN — The Almira Historical Society will host a dedication for the Babcock House and an Ice Cream Society today, July 28, at the museum, 19440 Maple St.
The house was built in the mid-1800s and was slated for demolition. The historical society rescued it and moved it to the museum property in 2003, where it has been painted, re-roofed and the porch rebuilt using old photos as a guide. The first floor also has been restored.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the dedication ceremony at 1 p.m. There also will be kids’ games, live music and ice cream sundaes made with Moomer’s Ice Cream and toppings. Sundaes are $5 each.
FRANKFORT — The 13th annual Art Auction on Friday, Aug. 2, also celebrates the newly completed Oliver Art Center. The theme is “Come See Us.”
The fundraiser starts at 5 p.m. at the art center, 132 Coast Guard Road. There will be live and silent auctions of original artwork with a mirror theme and other specially selected items. Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 the day of the event. Proceeds support ongoing operating costs and expansion of programs, exhibits and classes.

Run for the Farms
GLEN ARBOR — A natural trail provides an alternative to paved courses for participants in the fourth annual Sleeping Bear Dunes Port Oneida Run.
The 5K Trail Run/Walk will take place Saturday, Aug. 3. It begins and ends at the historic Charles Olsen farmstead, on M-22, four miles north of Glen Arbor just west of Port Oneida Road in the Port Oneida Rural Historic District. There also will be a quarter-mile Kids’ Schoolhouse Dash for children 12 and younger at 8:30 a.m. on race day. The fee is $5. Race packet pick-up is from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. at the farm’s red barn.

SUTTONS BAY — Immanuel Lutheran Church will host a visit from Jonathan Cring and Janet Clazzy on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 3-4.
Cring is a daily columnist/humorist and has written 11 books. He also received the “Best Screenplay Award” at the Top Ten Films in America. Clazzy has played in orchestras from coast to coast. She is the founder of the Sumner Pops Orchestra and the first female conductor in the State of Tennessee.
The “2013 Tour: Finding a Message in the World a Twitter” program features comedic and inspirational essays from Cring and original music from Clazzy. it will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and at 8:30 and 10 a.m. Sunday at the church, 203 N.
