Book signings

TRAVERSE CITY — Horizon Books will host book signings by the following authors:

• Gloria Whelan, author of “Queen Victoria’s Bathing Machine,” 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 16.

• Robert Knapp, author of “Mystery Man: Gangsters, Oil and Murder in Michigan,” 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, July 19.

• Kate Hannigan, author of “Cupcake Cousins #1,” noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 19.

• Mikel Classen, author of “Au Sable Point Lighthouse,” 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 19.

• Leslie Lee, author of “Sacred Space,” 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, July 19.

Montalván at TADL

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse Area District Library welcomes back New York Times bestselling and award-winning author of “Until Tuesday,” Luis Carlos Montalván, and his service dog Tuesday to the Main Branch at 4 p.m., on Wednesday, July 16 to share their latest story, just for kids, “Tuesday Tucks Me In.”

Participants will have the opportunity for book signing and pictures.

A limited number of books will be available for purchase.

Author to speak

BELLAIRE — The Friends of the Bellaire Library will host LaShelle VanHouten, author of “The Mural Writer,” at 1 p.m., on Monday, July 14.

The book depicts the challenging life of Ed Lantzer, a resident of Kalkaska, who created 30 wall-sized, Christian-themed murals out of thousands of tiny pieces of wood.

Following the talk, author VanHouten will take the group on a private tour of these murals in Central Lake. This program is free and open to the public.
