Chimney Corners lecture

BENZONIA — The Benzie Area Historical Society continues the Benzonia Academy Lecture Series with Claudia Rogers Bailey’s encore presentation of “The History of Chimney Corners Resort.” Rogers will speak at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 10 at the Mills Community House, 891 Michigan Ave.

Bailey will share pictures, anecdotes, and recipes, along with information about the origins and expansions of Chimney Corners Resort on the west shore of Crystal Lake since the 1930s.

Used book sale

BENZONIA — Friends of Benzonia Public Library annual used book sale will begin with a Friends preview sale from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 11. The public sale is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 12 at the Mills Community House, 891 Michigan Ave.

Fiction workshop

GAYLORD — New York Times bestselling author P.J. Parrish will lead a fiction-writing workshop July 11-12 at Saturn Booksellers. The two-day workshop, Writing Books That Sell, will focus on practical advice for writers on craft and the business of publishing, and is geared for writers of all types of fiction.

The workshop will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 11 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 12. The $150 fee includes Saturday lunch and snacks. Space is limited to assure personal instruction.
