East Bay Charter Township Clerk Susanne Courtade was awarded the Certified Michigan Municipal Clerk designation by the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks. The CMMC program was launched in January 2014 to encourage city, township and village clerks to seek continuing education specifically related to the duties of Michigan clerks. A clerk must invest in a minimum of 120 hours of educational programming over three years to qualify for certification and must continue to obtain education points to maintain the certification.

Artist William Truman Hosner, of Traverse City, was awarded “Best of Show” in Studios on the Park Signature Invitational Exhibition in Paso Robles, Calif. Hosner works exclusively in pastel and en plein-air (never working from a photo) and is an internationally recognized pastel painter who has been awarded top prize in exhibitions from New York City to Giverny, France.

Lori Sikkema, of Lake Ann, is a semifinalist for the 2014 American Quilter’s Society (AQS) QuiltWeek to be held in Grand Rapids in August. Sikkema has been chosen to display the quilt, Little Bit. Winners will be posted on the AQS website QuiltWeek.com.
