Family sail

SUTTONS BAY — The Inland Seas Education Association will offer a Family Science Sail from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 27, in Traverse City.

The sail is for ages 5 and older and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Participants will learn about the ecology of the Great Lakes and issues facing the freshwater resource. They also will have the opportunity to hoist the sails and steer the ship.

Trillium Singers

BELLAIRE — The Trillium Singers will give a concert on Thursday, June 27, at Church in the Hills.

The group will perform a program of jazz, pop, sacred music and more at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. They may be reserved in advance by calling 533-6001. Tickets also will be available at the door.

Farmers Market

ALDEN — An afternoon Farmer’s Market will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays starting June 27.

Markets will continue into the fall at East Park and feature several dozen local farmers. The Farmer’s Market is sponsored by the Downtown Alden Business Association. For details, call Doug Hickman, 676-3300, days.

 

Art opening

NORTHPORT — Wright Gallery will hold an opening Friday, June 28, for an exhibit of work by 16 representational and abstract artists.

The opening will be hosted from 6 to 9 p.m. at the gallery, 210 Mill St. The exhibit includes work by Israeli folk artist Vered Gersztenkorn, Chicago artist Jordan Scott, Guggenheim winner Helen O’Leary, Indiana artist Tim Kennedy, Greg Garman, Cologne artist Sabine Tress, local artist Conor Fagan, Santa Fe, N.M., artist Ben Dallas, Bob Burleigh of Grand Haven, Traverse City artist Jean Larson, and others.
