'Grande Vision' art

Traverse City — The Grande Vision Art Show will feature works by Gary Grimshaw, Carl Lundgren and Leni Sinclair.

The free show will be open 3-10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, and noon-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at InsideOut Gallery, 229 Garland St. Holiday gift items will be available to purchase. For details, call 929-3254 or visit

Holiday shopping

Empire — The Empire Artisan Fair will be hosted from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Empire Town Hall. It will include a community raffle and lunch. Proceeds benefit the Empire Area Community Center.

In addition, most stores in Empire will be open until 7 p.m. and a tree-lighting ceremony will be held at dark.

Park will sparkle

Bear Lake — Opening night festivities for Bear Lake's Sparkle in the Park are Saturday, Nov. 24, at Hopkins Park Campground.

Activities start at 6 p.m. with a free tailgate chili dinner. From 6:30 to 8 p.m., Santa and his helpers will visit with children at Toyland Bear Village.

Sparkle in the Park will be open from 5 to 11 p.m. nightly through Jan. 1. Admission is free, but a donation box is available for contributions to help buy materials for 2013. For details, contact Pauline Jaquish, 342-7285 or

Stout release party

Traverse City — Right Brain Brewery's CEO Coffee Stout was just voted Michigan's Favorite Stout in a poll. It will be released in a 22 oz. bottle at a party Friday, Nov. 23, at the pub, 225 E. 16th St.

Starting at 11 a.m. 100 CEO Stout Collector Edition Bags will be available on a first come, first served basis. The party continues until 9 p.m., with live music starting at 7 p.m. In addition, the Roaming Harvest food truck will be at the pub all day offering a stout-infused menu and later in the day, Great Northern Roasting Company will be making fresh shots of CEO espresso.
