Dems Meet & Greet

ELK RAPIDS — The Antrim Democratic Party will host a Meet & Greet for Mark Schauer, Democratic candidate for governor, from noon to 1 p.m. today, Aug. 12, at Rotary Park Pavilion, U.S. 31 North, just north of the Elk Rapids Chamber of Commerce building.

Lake on agenda

SUTTONS BAY — A joint meeting of Leelanau Clean Water and the Michigan Lake and Stream Association will focus on the lake issues of septics, cladophora and swimmer’s itch. Reservations are due by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13.

The meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Leelanau Government Center, 8527 E. Government Center Dr. Sessions include “Septic Sense” from 9-11 a.m.; “A Cladophora Survey” 11:20 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; and “Swimmer’s Itch Study and Prevention on Crystal Lake” from 1:15-2:30 p.m. The meeting is free and open to the public. PETOSKEY — North Central Michigan College’s nursing and allied health faculty will hold an information session Thursday, Aug. 22. Additional sessions will be held monthly, except in December.

Faculty will explain the process for admission into the nursing and allied health career programs at 4 p.m. in room 347 of the Health Education and Science Center, 1515 Howard St. Anyone planning to apply for either program is encouraged to attend an informational session.
