Recipe of the Week: Blueberry Dessert

This week’s recipe “just called blueberry dessert” was submitted by Leona Stanek, of East Jordan. Stanek says she was given the recipe more than 20 years ago by a friend. It is one that she has taken to many gatherings and has given to many friends. Stanek, 84, lives on an 800-acre farm that was first cultivated by her in-laws in 1907.

Blueberry Dessert

1/4 lb. saltine crackers crushed

1/3 c sugar

1 stick margarine melted

one tub of Cool Whip

8 oz. cream cheese

2 c. powdered sugar

1 can blueberry pie filling

Mix crushed crackers, sugar and margarine together and press into 9-by-14-inch baking pan and bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 350°. Mix Cool Whip, cream cheese and powdered sugar. Pour on baked crust and finish top by adding blueberry pie filling or make your own blueberry mix.
