Recipe of the Week: Honey Oatmeal Bread

Frequent contributor Sally DeWeese, of Traverse City, submitted today's recipe.

"What a perfect time of year to get the soup pot going and the breadmaker," she wrote, adding, "My grandchildren love it fresh with butter."

Honey Oatmeal Bread

1 c. lowfat milk

⅔ c. cinnamon applesauce

1 egg

1 T. honey

2 T. lite olive oil

2 T. margarine

3 t. brown sugar

½ c. whole wheat flour

3½ c. bread flour (Sally sifts hers)

1 c. Quick Oats

3-4 T. cracked wheat

1 heaping t. salt

1 ½ t. breadmaker yeast

Warm milk and applesauce in microwave. Mix ingredients in order and turn on breadmaker. Depending on flour, if it's mixing too hard, add a little more liquid.
