Healthy dinner, movie
Traverse City — Performance Chiropractic will host Dinner and a Movie on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
The evening will include a healthy meal at 5:30 p.m., followed at 6 p.m. by a screening of the new documentary, "Doctored," at Performance Chiropractic, 551 S. Garfield Ave., suite B. Donations will be accepted for MOM (Michigan Opposing Mandatory Vaccines).

The Psalms in music
Traverse City — Matt and Josie Minikus and Eric and Monique Johnson will take listeners on a musical journey through the Book of Psalms at a concert Saturday, Jan. 26.
"Songs of Ascent: A Concert Through the Book of Psalms" will be presented at 6 p.m. at the Traverse City Seventh-day Adventist Church. It is sponsored by Strong Tower Radio in Cadillac.
Jazz Mass at Grace
Traverse City — Grace Episcopal Church continues its liturgical exploration with a Jazz Mass on Saturday, Jan. 26.
The St. Louis Stompers, a six-piece jazz band from Missouri, will surround and support the Prayer Book liturgy with traditional Dixieland and gospel music at 5 p.m. at the church, 341 Washington St. Fellowship and refreshments will follow. For details, call 947-2330.

Traverse City — Janis Duwe will lead a discussion group for anyone who is losing a loved one to dementia.
Duwe is a counselor with a special interest in geriatrics and those who are unpaid caregivers. She will lead the group as it explores chapters from the book, "Loving Someone Who Has Dementia." There is no charge, but the book is required and will be ordered for participants.
The group will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. eight Tuesdays starting Feb. 5, and is limited to eight members. More groups will be added as needed.

Take a Polar Plunge
Traverse City — Hearty souls are needed to make a splash at the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Michigan.
The fundraiser will be held Saturday, Feb. 9. Registration starts at 10 a.m. at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa Clubhouse, followed at 11:15 a.m. by the plunge into the icy waters of the pond on The Bear Golf Course. Awards will be given out at a post-plunge party at noon at the resort clubhouse.
Big hearts can take the plunge for a $75 minimum donation. Individuals interested in taking the plunge can register online at http://www.firstgiving.com/polarplunge/traversecity2013 or on site the day of the event. Those who don't want to plunge can also collect donations to receive a T-shirt and an invitation to the post-plunge party.
