Traverse City — Dennis, Gartland & Niergarth will offer a QuickBooks training series starting Wednesday, Oct. 10.
The free seminars focus on specific aspects of QuickBooks. Sessions meet 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Dennis, Gartland & Niergarth training room 415 Munson Ave. Dates and topics are: Oct. 10 QuickBooks & Business Start-up; Nov. 7 QuickBooks for the Retailer; Dec. 5 QuickBooks Profit Centers and Job Costing; and Jan. 9 Year-end Payroll Tax Return Processing & 1099s.

Artist gives program

Ghostly fun night
Traverse City — The Goodwill Store invites the community to its Ghostly Halloween Fun Night.

Traverse City — The Bayside Travellers Dance Society will hold its first contra dance of the season on Saturday, Oct. 13.
The evening will start with a free lesson from 7 to 7:45 p.m., followed by dancing from 8 to 11 p.m. at Twin Lakes Park, 6800 N. Long Lake Road. Local band The Dang Ornos will perform.

Traverse City — Transylvania is being transported to Unity of Traverse City for an adult night of dress up, games, food and a live auction.
The "Escape to Transylvania" fundraiser will be hosted from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Unity, 3600 Five Mile Road. There will be a cost for dinner and activities. Proceeds will go to replace the church roof. Reservations are not needed. For details, call 938-9587.

Family barn dance
Suttons Bay — A barn dance on Friday, Oct. 12, will benefit the Human Nature School scholarship fund.
The event starts with games at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and contra dancing at 8 p.m. to music by The Nephews. It will be held at 10811 Pobuda Road. Admission is $20 in advance or $25 at the door per person; $45 in advance or $50 at the door for families.
