College Night

SCOTTVILLE — Representatives from more than 40 colleges, universities and military organizations will participate in West Shore Community College’s College Night.

The event will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday in WSCC’s Recreation Center. It is for high school students, their parents and anyone interested in comparing a variety of programs offered by colleges or universities.

Financial aid information also will be available. WSCC students wishing to transfer will be able to meet with college and university representatives from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Schoenherr Campus Center atrium. For details, call 843-5503.

Affordable Care

TRAVERSE CITY — Central United Methodist Church will sponsor a presentation titled “How the Affordable Care Act is Supposed to Operate.”

The guest speaker is Bob Miller. He spent 36 years in the field of labor relations, human resources and environmental remediation. For the past 10 years, he has headed up his own human resources consulting company in Traverse City.

The program will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the church. Admission is free and the public is invited.

RNs meet

TRAVERSE CITY — The next meeting of the American Nurses Association in Michigan (ANA-MI), formerly RN-AIM, will be held Oct. 10.

The meeting will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. at Munson Community Health Center, 550 Munson Ave., in Rooms A and B. All nurses and student nurses are welcome. Arlene Morton will give a program titled “A Nursing Challenge-Providing Health Care to Peace Corps Volunteers.” There is no cost, but a $5 donation is requested for pizza and salad.

Program traces roots

TRAVERSE CITY — Lauren Pelon will trace the story of music as she performs on ancient and modern instruments on Oct. 10, at the Peninsula Community Library, 2699 Island View Road.
