Jazz series debuts

Traverse City — Cambria Suites' Reflect Bistro & Lounge, 225 Munson Ave., will kick-off a new weekly jazz series tonight, Jan. 3.

The Jeff Haas Trio with Jack Dryden on bass and drummer Dave Collini will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. with special guests weekly. Tonight's guest is Laurie Sears on saxophone and flute. There is no cover charge and a full menu of food and beverages will be available until 11 p.m.

Artist reception

Traverse City — An artist reception will open an exhibit of work by Denny Kline.

The reception will be hosted from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, in Rinaldo Hall, adjacent to Gallery Fifty at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. The exhibit, titled "Paintings That I've Slept With: Work by Denny Kline," will be on display through February. For details, call Gallery Fifty, 932-0775, or visit
