LELAND — Blues at the Bluebird on Saturday, Feb. 23, will feature blues musician John Primer from Chicago.

Dinner at 6 p.m. will be followed by a blues concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Bluebird Restaurant. Tickets are $35 and proceeds benefit the Leelanau Conservancy. For tickets, call 256-9665 or email gayle@leelanauconservancy.org.

Pastels on display

WILLIAMSBURG — More than 25 pastels by local artist and art teacher Mary Fuscaldo are on display at Hope Village.

The community is invited to view Fuscaldo’s art from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays in the Hope Village Gallery, 4354 Mt. Hope Road. To learn more, call 938-4673.

PTO fundraiser

TRAVERSE CITY — Eastern Elementary School PTO will host a fundraiser featuring silent and live auctions today, Feb. 22.

The adults-only event will be hosted from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Traverse City Country Club, 1725 S. Union St. Tickets are available at the door for $35 each. The public is invited. For details, call Julie Zrimec, 421-1029.

Chaplains tribute

TRAVERSE CITY — American Legion Post 35 will host a “Four Chaplains Tribute Dinner” on Saturday, Feb. 23.

The meal and tribute will start at 1 p.m. at the post home, 1231 Hastings St. It honors the four “Immortal Chaplains” who sacrificed their lives in 1943 when the USS Dorchester went down as the result of a submarine attack. For tickets and details, call 922-2119.

Pet adopt-a-thon

TRAVERSE CITY — AC Paw will hold its February Adopt-a-Thon this weekend at Petsmart, 2544 Crossing Circle.

Adoption hours are 6-8 p.m. today, Feb. 22, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24. Dogs will be at the store Saturday and Sunday only.

Art opening

TRAVERSE CITY — Reservations are due Tuesday, Feb. 26, for an “Art of the Watershed” opening reception.

The reception will be hosted from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Watershed Center, 13272 S. West Bay Shore Dr. The exhibit features art by Glenn Wolff, Tim Lewis, and Rick Daigh.

Arts fundraiser

TRAVERSE CITY — H’arts and Arts for All, a fundraiser for ACT-GT, Artists Creating Together, will be hosted Thursday, Feb. 28.

The nonprofit organization helps children and adults with special needs through the arts.

The event will include wine sampling, music by the Family Reunion Quartet and a silent auction.

It will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the new Traverse City Art & Design Center, 1207-C Woodmere Ave. Tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple. For tickets or details, visit www.act-gt.org or call 947-1278.

Community art talk

BELLAIRE — Letterpress and intaglio printmaker Chad Pastotnik, visual artist Glenn Wolff and author Jerry Dennis will lead a community discussion on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

The free program from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. will focus on collaborative art. It will be held at the Bellaire Community Hall, 202 N. Bridge St., and is part of the Art, Film, Philosophy series sponsored by ISLAND and the Parkside Arts Council.
