Genealogists meet

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Area Genealogical Society will host a program by Amy Barritt, special collections librarian at the Traverse Area District Library, at its Thursday, April 17, meeting.

The group will meet at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3746 Veterans Dr. Barritt will discuss manuscript collections and how libraries organize and make these materials available for research. The public and guests are welcome.

‘Egg-stra’ Easter fun

TRAVERSE CITY — Children of all ages are invited to the Great Lakes Children’s Museum on Friday, April 18, for some “egg-stra” fun.

Special activities from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. will focus on learning the art and science of the egg while having fun.

Activities are included in museum admission, which is $6 for ages 2 and older.

Successful Aging series

TRAVERSE CITY — Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home will present a panel discussion titled “Funeral Etiquette, Grief Resources, Pre-Need and More” at the next Successful Aging program.

The panel will start at 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions, off South Elmwood Avenue. Peg Jonkhoff, co-owner of Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Lindsey (Jonkhoff) Rogers and Nicole Westrick will discuss service options. obituaries, pallbearers, the eulogy, proper dress, funeral processions, expressions of sympathy, grief resources, pre-planning and more.

Folk concert

ELK RAPIDS — C2 Productions and the Elk Rapids Cinema will present an evening with Don White and Matt Watroba.

White is a native of Lynn, Mass., and a Boston area favorite.

He is a former stand-up comedian who found folk music and now weaves the two together. Watroba is a favorite of the folk and traditional music community in the Midwest. He has hosted the Folks Like Us show on WDET public radio in Detroit for more than 20 years.
