AAUW to meet

TRAVERSE CITY — The AAUW Traverse City Area Branch will welcome Julie Weeks, president and CEO of Womenable, as their speaker at 6:30 p.m., this evening, at the History Center, 322 Sixth St.

Womenable’s mission is to improve the environment for women-owned business worldwide. The event is open to the public.

Jewelry sale benefit

TRAVERSE CITY — Glen Eagle Retirement Community, 3950 Sumac Dr., will host a Women at Risk (WAR) jewelry sale on Wednesday, March 12.

The community is invited to shop for handmade jewelry and other gift items crafted by rescued and at-risk women from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. For every $250 raised, a woman can stay in a safe house for a month. Call 935-4553 to learn more.

‘A Day in the Life’

TRAVERSE CITY — Parents of area children starting kindergarten in the fall are invited to “A Day in the Life of a Kindergartner” at Grand Traverse Academy, 1245 Hammond Road.

The event will be held from 2-3 p.m. Thursday, March 13. Following a brief introduction to the school, parents will be able to observe actual kindergarten classrooms in action. A question and answer session will close the program

‘We are E.R.’ dinner

TRAVERSE CITY — The “We Are E.R.” dinner and auction on Saturday, March 15, will benefit Elk Rapids Schools.

The event will start at 6 p.m. at the Hagerty Center, 715 E. Front St. It includes a gourmet dinner prepared by the Hagerty Center chefs, live and silent auctions, entertainment and a cash bar. Cocktail attire is requested.
