CHS stages 1-acts

TRAVERSE CITY — The Central High School Theatre Department will stage two one-act plays today, May 23.

The drama, “Bang, Bang You’re Dead,” and the comedy, “Check, Please,” will be presented at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium, 1150 Milliken Dr. “Bang, Bang You’re Dead” is not recommended for children.

Memorial Day

TRAVERSE CITY — Long Lake Township will honor its veterans with a Memorial Day Service on Friday, May 24.

The noon service will be held at Linwood Cemetery on Church Road. It includes a Riderless Horse Ceremony, a bagpiper, guest speaker Commander Joseph R. Buzzella Jr. from the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station, the reading of veterans’ names, a gun salute and taps.

Center Gallery art

GLEN ARBOR — “North,” an exhibit by painter Jamie Miller opens Friday, May 24, at Center Gallery, 6023 S. Lake St. A reception will be hosted at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 25.

Trunk show

CEDAR — Wool & Honey will host Michigan artists for a yarn, fiber and jewelry trunk show.

Hand-dyed yarn and fibers from Yarn Hollow and hand-crafted paper jewelry and art by Quilling Maven will be on display from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 24, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Wool & Honey, 9031 S. Kasson. There also will be demonstrations on how to use JUL Designs closures.
