INTERLOCHEN — Area senior citizens are invited to celebrate the new year, plus January birthdays and anniversaries at the senior luncheon on Wednesday, Jan. 13.

The meal will be served at noon at Redeemer Lutheran Church, U.S. 31 and Rogers Road. Fellowship and games will follow. The meal is $3 per person. Seniors also are welcome to bring a sack lunch and enjoy the free activities.

Fibromyalgia support

TRAVERSE CITY — Karen Paulosky will be the guest speaker at the Saturday, Jan. 11, meeting of the Fibromyalgia Support Group.

Paulosky is a Eden Energy certified practitioner and a student of Healing Touch, both energy therapy practices. The group will meet from 1-3 p.m. in dining room #2 at Munson Medical Center’s cafeteria. The program is free and open to the public. The meeting is subject to cancellation because of bad weather. Sierra Club meets

TRAVERSE CITY — The Northwest Michigan Sierra Club will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 15.

Evening with Jeff Daniels

TRAVERSE CITY — Jeff Daniels will make an benefit appearance at the City Opera House, 106 E. Front St., on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Daniels will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $32 and $40, with a special Circle Ticket package for $125. The package includes the show and an after-party with Daniels at Seven Monks Taproom with two complimentary drinks, appetizers, plus a photo opportunity and private meet and greet with Daniels. A portion of each Circle Ticket price benefits the City Opera House.

Back Porch music

CHARLEVOIX — Mel Sweet, a founding member of the SweetWater Blues Band, is the featured performer for the Saturday, Jan. 11, Back Porch Music event.

Sweet will perform from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Charlevoix Senior Center building, the corner of Carpenter and Sheridan streets. A circle jam will follow. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. The suggested donation at the door is $5 to $10 and includes soup, cookies, coffee and tea. Proceeds go to the scheduled performer. To learn more, call 622-2944.

Bay Film Series

SUTTONS BAY — The Bay Film Series continues with a screening of “Wadjda.”
