Munson Medical Center was recently recognized by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association’s Get With the Guidelines-Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award.
The award recognizes Munson Medical Center’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations.
The award represents 12 consecutive months of 85 percent or higher adherence to all Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Quality Achievement indicators and at least 75 percent or higher compliance with six of 10 Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Quality Measures during the same time period. These guidelines represent benchmarks to measure quality of care.
Progress Village of Traverse City has been recognized as a Community Health Hero by the Munson Healthcare Community Health Committee.
Progress Village members characterize themselves as a group of neighbors who want to play an active role in their own community’s response to poverty by helping others understand the reality and challenges of living in the crisis of poverty. Many members have struggled with poverty and are now working with the Traverse Bay Poverty Reduction Initiative to provide community outreach.
Factors that go into the recognition include programs and services that improve access to care, address the unmet needs of the uninsured, underinsured and disenfranchised, address the unmet or emerging health issues of youth and the elderly or focus on chronic disease prevention and management. The award represents the first in a series of recognitions the committee plans as it works with area entities to improve health and wellness in communities served by Munson Healthcare. It will be issued four times a year.
