Jazz at the Cambria

TRAVERSE CITY — Two graduate students home for the holidays will join Haas and Friends on Thursday, Jan. 2, for Jazz at the Cambria.

Saxophonist Myles Boothroyd and drummer Andy Wheelock will join saxophonist Laurie Sears, trumpeter Chris Lawrence, bassist Jack Dryden and Randy Marsh on drums and harmonica for an evening of jazz from 7-9:15 p.m. at the Cambria Suites’ Reflect Bistro, 255 Munson Ave. There is no cover charge and the public is invited. ‘Off the Wall’ film

ALDEN — The 2012 film “Mud” is the next movie in the “Off the Wall’ film series at the Alden District Library, 8751 Helena Road.

The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon and Sam Shepard and is rated PG-13. It will be shown at 7 p.m. and will be preceded by dinner at 6 p.m. The public is invited. For details, call the library, 331-4318.

$5 yoga classes

TRAVERSE CITY — Yoga for Health Education will offer nearly 20 “almost free” classes on Friday, Jan. 3.

The 60-minute classes are designed to introduce people of all ages to the benefits of non-competitive exercise that includes yoga, tai chi, Pilates and Feldenkrais. Classes meet between 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Yoga for Health at the Grand Traverse Commons. Each class is $5 (cash or check). All money collected will benefit FLOW (For the Love of Water), a Traverse City nonprofit whose mission is to promote new legal protections for water in the Great Lakes region based on public trust issues.

‘Cabin Fever’ talk

FRANKFORT — Photographer Steve Loveless will close the Cabin Fever Artist Talk Series on Friday, Jan. 3.
