n MILDER WEATHER and no cold wave in sight for this week. Temperatures will be average or above for the coming week.

n CHERRY PIES with hatchets to cut them is the program Saturday for the Traverse City Grange. The hatchets will be pasteboard so the pies will have to be tender. It was intended to give a play at this time, but many of the members are ill.

n THE NEED FOR GOOD ROADS will be the discussion by many Peninsula residents. Hon. Frank F. Rogers will be addressing the issues at several meetings. Meetings will be held at the Mapleton Town Hall at three o’clock Friday afternoons and ten o’clock Saturday mornings.

n THE FIRST SKATERS of the season were on the Bay Saturday afternoon. The ice is rough in some places, but that did not stop adventurous souls from partaking.

n THE LAST MEETING of the O.U. Fido Club was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Richter of South Union Street. 500 was played as usual. A four course luncheon was served at twelve o’clock.

n A CARLOAD of hides valued at $10,000 were shipped to Bay City today. The hides were purchased by Thomas Miller from farmers within a 20 mile radius of Traverse City. This is to show the large variety of cattle being raised in this area.
