Shiver by the River

FRANKFORT — The sixth annual Shiver by the River will be held at various locations in Frankfort Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 15-16.

Snocross practice and qualifying starts the activities on Saturday, Feb. 15, at Open Space Park. Activities also include the Betsie Bay Frozen 5K, the Winter Parade, children’s games and activities, an antique snowmobile display, horse-drawn carriage, rides, a chili cook-off, and more.

On Sunday, Feb. 16, the Snocross pit gates open at 7 a.m. with Snocross snowmobile race finals starting at 9 a.m. For a complete schedule or more information, call 352-7251 or visit


INTERLOCHEN — The Winterlochen Festival will be hosted from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22.

The day includes a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. at the Interlochen Public Library, self-guided snowshoeing and cross country skiing at Interlochen State Park, and a variety of indoor and outdoor activities at Interlochen Center for the Arts including the “Hot Club of San Francisco” performance at 7 p.m. in Corson Auditorium.

Most Winterlochen activities are free. The performance is $26 for adults, $23 for senior citizens and $10 for students. Picnic at the Opera

TRAVERSE CITY — The Picnic at the Opera series continues Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the City Opera House, 106 E. Front St.

The live variety show will be hosted from noon-1 p.m. by Miriam Pico and Jamie Kramer from WTCM FM. The musical guest is Jeff Haas, with guest performer Levi Britton. Joe DeLuca is the guest visual artist and Relish will provide items for a fashion show. The show also features poetry commentary by Michael Delp and music by keyboardist David Chown.
