Spring egg hunt

TRAVERSE CITY — Children from birth through age 13 are invited to join the Grand Traverse Conservation District for a new spin on a springtime favorite.

Instead of sending children to retrieve candy-filled eggs, this egg hunt focuses on a mission to find five eggs, each one a different color corresponding to a Michigan animal that lays eggs. As they find each egg, participating children put it in their basket and mark it off a scorecard. Once they’ve found all five colored eggs they return to the starting point to exchange the eggs and scorecard for candy and to be entered in a prize drawing.

The egg hunt will be held Saturday, March 30, at Kids Creek Park, between Kohls and the Great Wolf Lodge. Groups will start at 10 or 11:30 a.m. and children will be grouped by age to different areas of the park.

Only Friends of the Conservation District may pre-register for the event at http://natureiscalling.org/springtime-egg-hunt. Membership is $25 and available at http://natureiscalling.org.support/become-a-friend or by calling 941-0960. Walk-ins are welcome, but space is limited and a spot in the hunt is not guaranteed.
