More St. Patty's Day entertainment

- What’s it like to live and learn in Ireland? Find out when Michigan natives Jessie Nieves and Nic Gareiss present Life After Limerick from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at InsideOut Gallery.

The show, a 90-minute travelogue and concert-style performance, tells the story of the educational voyage of the pair as they attended the conservatory-style Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick. That’s where Nieves, a fiddler from Saline, earned a master’s degree in Irish traditional music performance and Gareiss, a percussive dancer originally from Mt. Pleasant, a master’s in ethnochoreology or dance anthropology.

Through tunes, songs, and dance steps, the pair will share their experience of living in Ireland, from the joys and occasional mishaps of acclimating to a new cultural environment, to the realization of the strong connections between Ireland and North America.

Tickets are $10 at Oryana Natural Foods Market, Cedar City Market and InsideOut Gallery.

- Join Finnegan with Ruby John for a celebration of Irish music at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Williamsburg Theater.

Finnegan — musicians Doc and Donna Probes — plays jigs, reels and ballads on concertina, pennywhistle, Irish bouzouki, mandolin, guitar and bodhran. The duo are regulars at TC Celtic and play in numerous other ensembles. Both have traveled to Ireland to soak up the musical spirit of the Emerald Isle.

A fiddler from Northport, John is Odawa and Irish and grew up playing Celtic music weekly with TC Celtic. She has studied with some of the best fiddlers from the U.S. and Canada, and each year attends the AlgomaTrad Music Camp on St. Joseph Island, Canada.

Tickets are $20 at the door and $15 in advance Oryana Natural Foods Market, Brilliant Books and West Side Beverage in Traverse City and at the Stained Glass Cabinet and Ace Hardware in Acme. Doors open at 3 p.m., with full bar service and appetizers available.
