MANISTEE -- Cooking Light, the world's largest food and healthy lifestyle magazine, has announced that Linda Rogers of Manistee joins 11 other finalists in the fourth annual Cooking Light Ultimate Reader Recipe Contest. The 12 cooking connoisseurs will be brought to Cooking Light headquarters in Birmingham, Ala., for a head-to-head cook-off in the Cooking Light Test Kitchens on Sept. 18 and competing for a $20,000 grand prize.

Rogers was selected for her Deep Dark Chocolate Biscotti in the Desserts category.

Cooking Light Test Kitchen professionals and food editors selected the 12 finalists from thousands of submissions. Inspired by one of the magazine's most popular monthly columns, "Reader Recipes," readers created dishes in one of four categories: Starters and Drinks; Entrees; Sides and Salads; and Desserts. Submitted recipes had to be lower in fat and calories than traditional recipes and contain one or more ingredients from the 2008 contest sponsors.

A panel of independent food professionals will sample each dish and select the winners following the September 18 cook-off. Each category winner will take home $5,000, and the overall grand prize winner will receive $20,000 plus $5,000 donated to the contestant's charity of choice.

The winning recipes will be featured editorially in the January/February 2009 issue of Cooking Light and posted on www.cookinglight.com and www.myrecipes.com.
