Father-son team publishes kids book

TRAVERSE CITY -- Local residents Tom and Matthew Shoaff have self-published a children's story based in Traverse City and Leelanau County.

"The Woodscrit Manuscripts" is the story of a magical peninsula and the host of forest creatures that govern and protect the land. The Shoaffs say it is "inspired by actual events" and combines "the warmth of 'The Velveteen Rabbit' with the whimsical foolery of 'The Wind in the Willows.' "

The book is available around Leelanau County and will be for sale at several art fairs throughout the summer. The book retails for $15.95.
