Archbishop at two local churches

SUTTONS BAY — Edwin F. O'Brien, the 15th archbishop of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, will be celebrating masses this weekend in Leelanau County.

Masses are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. today, Aug. 28, at St. Michael's, 315 W. Broadway, Suttons Bay; and 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, at St. Gertrude's, 701 N. Warren, Northport.

There will be receptions at each parish following the liturgies.

The Archdiocese of Baltimore is the first and oldest Catholic diocese in our nation.

TC church will offer DivorceCare series

Traverse City — DivorceCare will be part of the Midweek Connection starting Sept. 8 at Church of the Living God.

The 13-week video seminar and support group for separated or divorced individuals will meet at 7 p.m. at the church, 1514 Birmley Road. The cost for materials is $15.

Crafters needed for upcoming show

TRAVERSE CITY — Vendors are needed for a craft fair at the First Christian Church.

The fair will be held Sept. 25. Cost is $35 for a booth.

Summer's last brats and burgers cookout

Traverse City — Old Mission Congregational Church invites the community to its last Burger and Brats cookout of the summer.

The meal will be served from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the church, 18678 Mission Road. Donations will be accepted. Call Penny Paulley, 223-4844.

Project Unity will host golf outing

Traverse City — Project Unity for Life's fall fundraiser will be a golf outing on Saturday, Sept. 11.

Project Unity for Life is a faith-based community ministry created to stop the revolving door of incarceration. The program is available to anyone in need of assistance.

The outing will start with check-in at 8 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at Elmbrook Golf Course. The cost is $50 per player or $200 per foursome, and includes 18 holes of golf with a cart and dinner.
