Church Women United will meet

Traverse City — First Christian Church will host the Thursday, Dec. 2, meeting of Church Women United. The program title is "Come! Celebrate Jesus."

The group will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 3686 S. Airport Road, next to Best Buy. Men are invited. Attendees should bring a dish to pass for the fellowship luncheon. Table service will be provided and there is no mission collection this month.

Advent event for area women

Traverse City — All area women are invited to start the four-week journey to Christmas with an "Advent by Candlelight" event sponsored by Traverse City Area Catholic Women.

The event will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, in the St. Francis High School dining hall on East 11th Street. A free-will offering will be collected.

Katherine Guild hosts cookie walk

Interlochen — The Katherine Guild of Redeemer Lutheran Church will hold its 11th annual Cookie Walk on Saturday, Dec. 4.

The event, which also features crafts, a silent auction, baked goods and a soup luncheon, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church at Rogers Road and U.S. 31. Cookies will be sold for $5 a pound. There also will be a "Kids Only" gift shop where children can Christmas shop for their families.

Proceeds support Katherine Guild ministries and community projects. Call 645-1263 for more information.

Holiday Marketplace and angel sale

Traverse City — The Martha Guild at St. Michael's Lutheran Church has created a "heavenly host" of angel ornaments to complement its Christmas Marketplace.

The community is invited to shop for crafts, baked goods and angel ornaments from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in the church fellowship hall, 912 S. Garfield Ave.

Tea is festive start to holiday season

Frankfort — First Congregational Church will host a Silver Tea as a festive start to the holiday season.

Tea, coffee, punch and Christmas goodies will be served from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the church, 431 Forest Ave.

There also will be a Christmas cookie and bake sale.

Visitors invited to 'Taste of Bethlehem'

Traverse City — Visitors are invited to step back in time and experience the first Christmas at First Christian Church's "A Taste of Bethlehem."

The public can stroll the streets of Bethlehem, peer into small shops and experience the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of the region and time from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, and 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 at the church, 3686 S. Airport Road.

Admission is free. Donations will be accepted to help support the 2011 celebration.

Church women will serve Advent Tea

Traverse City — The Bethlehem Lutheran Church Women of the ELCA will host an Advent Tea for all area women and girls.

The tea will be hosted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the church, 1050 Peninsula Dr. It will feature music by the Central High School Choral-Aires.

Let Feast of Victory do holiday baking

Acme — Make your own selections or choose a pre-packaged variety box of confections at Feast of Victory Lutheran Church's Christmas Cookie Sale.

The sale will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at the church on Mt. Hope Road. Homemade cookies and candies will be sold for $7 a pound and proceeds will benefit the area community needs fund and other church ministries. For details, call 938-1070.
