---- — Celebration for ArtPrize winner

FRANKFORT — The Oliver Art Center, 132 Coast Guard Road, will host a celebration today for top ArtPrize 2013 winner Ann Loveless.

The celebration will be held from 4-7 p.m., with cake and light refreshments. Some of Loveless’ work also will be on display. There is no charge and the public is welcome. Call 352-4151 to learn more.

GAAA exhibit

GLEN ARBOR — More than 20 Glen Arbor Art Association members will display their paintings as part of the Fall for Art in Leelanau Gallery Tour.

The exhibit will be open today from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., with an opening reception from 6-8 p.m. at the GAAA, 3061 S. Lake St. The exhibit also will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13. A Fall for Art closing reception and prize drawing will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lake Street Studios.

Education fundraiser

LELAND — The Leland Educational Foundation’s annual fundraiser moves back to Leland this year, and into autumn, with a barbecue and auction on today at the Leland Lodge.

The fundraiser is casual, and will feature auctions, raffles, live music, a DJ, a cash bar and barbecue prepared by the Lodge. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and child care will be provided at Leland Public School by members of the National Honor Society.

Tickets are $25 in advance at Leland Public School, Studio 22 Salon and Spa, the Leland Mercantile and at Tickets at the door are $35.

Empire Heritage Day

EMPIRE — The Empire Area Museum Complex will celebrate Heritage Day on Saturday.

The event will be held from 1-4 p.m. at the complex. Special features include a collection of Faberge-style eggs made in the 1970s by Helen Witt, and a collection of model school buses made from cardboard by former resident Ted Pelky. There also will be old-fashioned craft and food demonstrations, a live blacksmith demonstration, vintage cars, tractors and more. The Glen Lake Fire Department, next door the the museum, also will hold an open house.

Back Porch music

CHARLEVOIX — The next Back Porch music event features Louan Lechler.

Lechler is a folk singer, songwriter, poet, artist and illustrator. She has been a central figure at Stone Circle, where she has shared her music, poetry and stories for 30 years.

She will perform from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Charlevoix Senior Center building at the corner of Carpenter and Norwood streets. A circle jam will follow. A $5 to $10 donation at the door is suggested and goes to the scheduled performer. The donation includes soups, coffee and cookies. For details, call Robin or Pam Luce, 622-2944.

Cape Dorset sale

TRAVERSE CITY — The Dennos Museum is the official U.S. site for the 2013 Cape Dorset Print Collection exhibition and sale. The exhibit opens Sunday and continues through Dec. 1.

A reception will begin at 6 p.m. Oct. 18, at the Dennos Museum, 1410 College Dr. It is free and open to the public. A sale will be conducted by lottery.
