---- — TRAVERSE CITY — Northwest Michigan Ballet Theatre presents the full-length ballet, “Song of Wyoming,” on Saturday in Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum Center.
Created by company artistic director Tom Morrell, “Song of Wyoming” stems from a childhood fascination with the United States’ Old West era and westerns. Some of the iconic musical themes from the 1950s and ‘60s are woven into the show’s score.
In “Song of Wyoming,” Morrell has developed a cast of characters — a rancher, saloon keeper, sheriff, cattle baron, Eastern ladies, little girls, gamblers and cowboys — and fit their movements and motivations to the show’s dancers. The show marks Morrell’s ninth original ballet.
Performances are at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and students. Call 800-836-0717 for more information or visit www.ballet-etc.com.
