TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse Symphony Orchestra and the Northwestern Michigan College Grand Traverse Chorale, Chamber Singers and Children's Choir will present two "Home for the Holidays" performances.

The first is Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m., followed by another on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m. in Lars Hockstad Auditorium.

Guest Conductor Robin Fountain and Choral Director Jeffrey Cobb will lead a program featuring carols, light classics and Yuletide tunes like Anderson's "Sleigh Ride," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," Vaughan-Williams' "Folk Songs of the Four Seasons" and more. A community singalong will complete the evening celebration.

"It's perfect that we're starting with the magical music of 'Hansel and Gretel;' the exquisite opening measures instantly envelop one in comfort and love like musical hot chocolate," Fountain said. "And of course, being English, I can't help looking forward to sharing some music of Ralph Vaughan-Williams: a great composer with an absolutely distinctive voice."

The Children's Choir returns to perform with the Traverse Symphony Orchestra for the first time in more than five years.

"We're really fortunate in that we have such a fantastic group of students," Cobb said. "They're dedicated to the choral art, and they bring such energy and vitality to the stage."
