Traverse City Winter Comedy Fest to return

TRAVERSE CITY —

The Traverse City Winter Comedy Festival will be back in downtown Traverse City this winter, running Feb. 14-17.

Hosted by Michael Moore and Jeff Garlin of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” fame, the festival will feature top nationally known comedians in concert each night. Mike Birbiglia will be returning to Traverse City with his film, “Sleepwalk With Me.” Other entertainment will include up-and-coming comics, an improve group or two, comedy films, family comedy and comedy filmmakers.

Front Street will be transformed into a free skating rink. Also look for a ferris wheel, sledding hill, ice sculptures and outdoor laser light shows after dark.

The Traverse City Film Festival is teaming with the National Cherry Festival to present the festival, which was canceled this year because of concerns about having it the same weekend as the Winter Microbrew and Music Festival.

Venues will include the State Theatre, City Opera House, Old Town Playhouse and InsideOut Gallery.

Tickets go on sale in January.
