Drummer seeks help finding instruments

TRAVERSE CITY — Song of the Lakes drummer Rick Jones is looking for help with the recovery of several of his percussion instruments.

Jones had just played a gig with the band on the Tall Ship Manitou Aug. 15 and was heading home with the instruments when they fell off the back of his motorcycle. The instruments, in a black padded bag with a zippered pocket, could be anywhere between Greilickville and Bendon.

Missing are an 18-inch bodhran with a Harley-Davidson decal on the side, a tipper used to play the drum, and buffalo horn rattles and a carved dragon used to make special sounds, among other instruments.

"They're all the tricks of my trade," said Jones, who is offering a reward for the instruments' recovery. "The most valuable to me is my tipper. I got that in Ireland. I was just devastated when I lost it."

Anyone with information about the instruments can call Jones at (231) 590-2664.
