Band plays Bellaire

Bellaire — Funk-rock act Funktion will perform a free concert Friday, Aug. 24, at the Dockside, 6340 Old Torch Lake Dr., in support of their CD "Step Into It." The show starts at 9 p.m. The doors open at 8 p.m.

Subaru parade

Elk Rapids — The late Matthew Noble Marker, Elk Rapids native, former rally driver and SubaRoots founder, will be honored as people attempt to break the current world record for the longest parade of Subarus.

More than 300 cars have already pledged to participate in the Sept. 16 event in Elk Rapids. Drivers must be legally licensed and registered to participate and all cars must remain within a car-length of the other cars. They will be required to traFor details, visit www.subaroots.com.

Country dance

Summit City — A live band will play for a country dance at the Summit City Grange Hall, 3060 Factory St.

The dance on Saturday, Aug. 25, starts with a hot dog supper at 6 p.m., followed by dancing from 7 to 10 p.m. Donations will be accepted. For details, call 263-4499.

Silent movies

Acme — The Music House Museum will present a silent movie double feature.

Laurel and Hardy in "We Faw Down" and Harry Langdon in "Saturday Afternoon" will be shown at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the museum, U.S. 31 North. Both films will be accompanied by Fr. Andrew Rogers on the Wurlitzer organ.

Star gazing cruise

Bellaire — Grass River Natural Area will offer a sunset cruise to observe the summer night sky.

Constellation Cruise II will leave at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, from DeWitt Marina, 6509 Crystal Springs Road. The cost is $15 for adults; $7 for children ages 11 and younger. Parents should bring life jackets for their children. For details or to register, call 533-8314.
