Opera a la Carte

TRAVERSE CITY — Opera a la Carte returns to the City Opera House at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Young performers from around the country will offer an evening of fully staged, costumed, and professionally delivered scenes from favorite operas; each accompanied by piano. The repertoire will include Bizet’s Carmen, Adamo’s Little Women, Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Abduction from the Seraglio.

Tickets are $20; students 18 and younger are free with a paid adult. They are available at City Opera House by calling 941-8082; or online at www.CityOperaHouse.org.

Elvis tributeat Pavilions

TRAVERSE CITY — Elvis tribute artist Jake Slater will perform at 7 p.m. this Thursday on the Grand Lawn of Grand Traverse Pavilions. His show is free and open to the public. Concert goers are advised to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Prior to his concert, attendees will be able to purchase picnic fare from a concession at the concert.

For more information, call 932-3027. In case of rain or extreme heat (90 degrees plus) the concert will be canceled.

Betty Who performs

INTERLOCHEN — Interlochen alumna Betty Who will perform at 8 p.m. this Monday at Corson Auditorium. Who’s recent debut EP “The Movement” was named “Best EP of 2013” by both Billboard Magazine and Popjustice and “This Year’s Major One To Watch” by MTV Buzzworthy. Idolator recently called her the “next great pop star.”

Tickets are $22 general admission.

Summer music fest

CEDAR — The 2014 Leelanau Summer Music Festival kicks off the season with Love and Romance in Summer. The Wu-Tang Duo at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Sala Koncertowa Concert Hall in Holy Rosary School, 2 1/2 miles north of Cedar.

Detroit Symphony assistant concertmaster Hai-xin Wu and internationally known concert artist Zhihua Tang will play romantic favorites for the violin and piano.
